Hussain Al Nowais Chairman

A global industrialist and business strategist, Hussain Al Nowais has over 35 years of experience in investing, developing and managing businesses in the Middle East, Africa and Asia across multiple sectors, including banking, finance, heavy industries, chemicals, energy, infrastructure, hospitality and real estate.

Hussain Al Nowais is the Chairman of Al Nowais Investments where he spearheads the firm’s strategy of global expansion, investment, and strategic project development across the target sectors. He is also the Chairman of AMEA Power, a developer, owner, and operator of renewable power projects in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, he is also the Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), UAE’s leading domestic bank. In addition, Hussain Al Nowais is a Board Member in Rotana Hotels & Real Estate Investments. He is also a member of the Family Business Council-Gulf, Asia Business Council, World Economic Forum in Davos.

Additionally, he is a member of Al Fanar philanthropy impact investment and acts as a board trustee. He was one of the founding members of Sandooq Al Watan, a national philanthropist and Investment organization that provides Emiratis with guidance and funding for social impact project, with focus on technology and health care.

Until recently, and for the last 14 years, he was the Chairman of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, a non-profit social impact fund. He spent over 12 years as the Chairman of Waha Capital, a publicly listed investment company on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, He also spent 10 years as a Chairman of SENAAT, an Industrial holding company. In addition, he was the Chairman of MENA Infrastructure Fund, the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), and National Petroleum Services (NPS).

He served as a Board Member of the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development for three years; he was also on the board of Abu Dhabi Aviation, Abu Dhabi Ports Company, the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, Al Dhafra Insurance Company and was an advisory board member of the Khalifa University for Science & Technology. A UAE national and born in Abu Dhabi, Hussain Al Nowais holds a B.S. in Business finance from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon in June 1979, and has attended various Executive Management programs at INSEAD in France and at London Business School.

Yousef Al Nowais is the Chairman and Managing Director of Arab Development (ARDECO), a company he founded in his home city in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. ARDECO is large diversified business and a leading player in the oil & gas and petrochemical sectors, as well as power generation and distribution and other engineering and infrastructure project services. Its large repertoire of partners and principals include such names as GE Oil & Gas, Tecnimont SpA, Linde AG, Daewoo Engineering, and many others.

He is also the Co-Chairman of Al Nowais Investments LLC, a leading investment company based in Abu Dhabi, with local and international holdings in a broad range of strategic investments and actively managed subsidiaries, including:

Prior to setting up his own business, Mr. Al Nowais had joined Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) after graduating from the University of Arizona in 1979 and held many senior positions in the ADNOC group including Finance Director and Managing Director of ADNOC’s subsidiary FERTIL.

He is also currently Chairman, Vice Chairman or Member of the Board of several private institutions including:

Key previous appointments include Managing Director (2007-2013) of Al Maabar International, a leading UAE organization investing internationally in real estate projects in the MENA region, which was formed as a joint venture between Al Dar Properties, Mubadala, Al Qudra Holdings, Reem Investment and Reem International.

Adel Al Nowais graduated in 1990 with a BS in Business Administration from Lewis and Clark College, USA. Has attended several courses and seminars at INSEAD, Paris and other prominent overseas educational institutions. After graduating in 1990, he joined Federal Foods LLC (a subsidiary Al Nowais Investments) as the Business Development Manager. In 1999 he was appointed as the Group’s Director – Commercial & Projects.

In 2008, he became the Managing Director of Al Nowais Investments. In addition to his various corporate roles and responsibilities within the group, Mr. Al Nowais has been invited to join the boards as director of several publicly-held prestigious institutions including Arabtech and Asmak.

S.G. Nair brings more than 45 years of professional experience gained in a number of senior leadership roles in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and India. S.G. Nair has played a key role in the establishment of Danway EME and is responsible for leading the strategic direction and operational management of Danway EME business activities in the Middle East. He has been the General Manager of Danway EME since its inception in 1990 and was appointed Managing Director in 2007.

S.G. Nair is a chartered Electrical Engineer graduated from the College of Engineering – Trivandrum, India. He is also a member of the Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (USA) and has undergone management training in Holland and Belgium.

Amit Bansal has over 21 years of experience in Finance, Accounts, IT and Administration functions of various manufacturing and contracting companies. He is MBA Finance, Certified Public Accountant (U.S.) and associate member of Institute of Chartered Accountant of India.

Amit has joined the company in 2007 as Finance controller and promoted as CFO in year 2012. He is responsible for the Financial and Administration functions including development and delivery of the company’s strategy, budget, business plan and corporate policies.

Rakesh Gaekwad has over 28 years of Experience in the Construction Industry. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer with effect from April 2021 and is responsible for the overall operations of Projects undertaken by Danway EME, including Engineering, Contracts, Procurement as well a Tendering Departments. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India.

Rakesh started his professional career with Danway as a Trainee Engineer in 1993 and rose within the ranks to hold various managerial positions in Tendering, Project Management and General Manager – Commercial.

Nagaraj Harpanahalli has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Mysore University India and has over 26 years of experience in Engineering, Project Management & Execution of Power Plants, High Voltage Substations, HV / MV Cabling, Oil Refineries / Terminals, Airports, Industrial & other Infrastructure Projects. Nagaraj joined Danway as a Sr. Design Engineer in the year 2002 and contributed towards Danway’s inorganic growth assuming various responsibilities over the years. He has served the organization as Head of Engineering / Testing & Commissioning and Mechanical Departments.

He has led some of Danway’s challenging projects as a Project Manager & also served as Divisional Manager for Power & Utilities vertical. He was appointed as General Manager – Projects (Dubai & Northern Emirates) in Jan – 2020. Prior to joining Danway, Nagaraj has worked in India with one of the leading Engineering companies as a Design Engineer.

Kathirvel carries 27 years’ experience in Project Management, Engineering management, Site & Construction Management related to Power Generation & Distribution, Heavy industrial, Oil & Gas & Infrastructure projects. Having extensive work, communication and leadership experience in study, Detailed Design & construction phases of the project in the complex multi-disciplinary projects. Holds Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s degree in Construction Project Management & PMI certified Project Management professional (PMP). More than 20 years’ work experience in the construction projects in UAE, Saudi Arabia & Oman.

As Business Unit Head of Danway Saudi Arabia, responsible for the Business development and Project management and deliver the company’s business plan.

Viswajeet Pandey serving to mega projects from Last 25 years’ which includes Oil refineries, Aluminium Plants, Steel Plants, Infrastructure Projects etc. experience in managing EPC projects, All type of Mechanical. Electrical and Civil Works on turnkey basis . He has held various roles in his carrier includes as a head of Project Management, Project Procurement and Business development etc.

As a Country Manager – Bahrain, he is responsible for the company’s growth in Bahrain with business development and execution of the projects with customer delight.

Ghassan holds a B.E in Electrical and Computers Engineering with over 22 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Power, Water & Desalination Plants, in addition to Maritime and Telecom sectors. With a solid foundation in business development, Ghassan has been dedicated to driving growth, fostering and developing positive customer relationships with National Oil Companies, EPC contractors, Consultants, and Government Entities. In the role of Area Manager – Abu Dhabi, he leverages a keen understanding of the industry to manage operations effectively. His expertise and leadership continue to make significant contributions to our line of business.

Abhhey is the Head of Renewable Business at Danway. He joined the team in 2023 and has spearheaded business acquisition and project development activities for Danway. His primary focus lies in securing a renewable energy portfolio consisting of solar, hybrid, storage, projects with sustainable returns.

He garnered valuable experience working with esteemed organizations such as Reliance ADA Group, ADANI, HERO FUTURE ENERGIES, AZURE POWER and STERLING & WILSON, where he held various leadership positions. Throughout his career, he has successfully facilitated the development of over 5.0 GW of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and solar thermal, from concept to commissioning. Abhhey has consistently delivered targeted returns across multiple geographies and under various business models, ranging from utility-scale projects to open access projects as an IPP as well as an EPC.

Ravi Ahuja joined Danway Team in 2022, as Head of Procurement and Contracts. He has played a pivotal role in managing the Supply Chain and Contracts portfolio across the Middle East and Africa. Ravi brings 20 years of extensive experience from notable organizations such as Larsen & Toubro, Torrent Power, Adani Power, and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, where he held various leadership positions. Throughout his career, he has successfully led the commercial functions of Procurement and Contracts for various utility projects in the UAE, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Ravi has overseen the commercial aspects of 400 and 220 kV substation projects for DEWA, Kahramaa, Transco, SEWA, and OETC, as well as over 100 substations at 132 kV and 33 kV levels for DEWA, SEC, OETC, ETHIADWE, and TAQA. Additionally, he has been involved in prestigious solar projects with a total capacity of up to 1.8 GW and other cabling, overhead lines, and airport projects across the Gulf. Ravi has consistently excelled in managing commercial functions, ensuring projects are delivered within budget, and safeguarding the contractual and commercial interests of the organization.

Vijay Kadam has over 25 years of Experience in Industrial and Retail, Weighing, Packaging, Automation, PPE Industry. He is responsible for overall business activities of Danway Emirates LLC. He holds Executive M.B.A. Degree from S.P. Jain School of Global Management.

Vijay was appointed General Manager – IRS with effect from January 2012 and has been employed in various Technical and Commercial, Management role since joining as Division Manager in 2003.

Aboobaker Mohammed has Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 35 years of experience in the field of sales, service, Contracting, Procurement, Business development, Commercial and Quality Assurance. Aboobaker has joined Danway in 1990 as Sales and Service Engineer of Pumps Division and contributed towards Danway’s growth assuming various responsibilities over the years. He was serving as Divisional Manager of Pumps Division when he had left Danway in 2007 to take assignment in ADNOC Subsidiary and re-joined Danway in 2017 as Commercial Manager.

He has been assigned additional responsibility of head of Mechanical Division (Power & Water, and Access) and is responsible for the Techno Commercial activities and P&L of the Division.
